Finding The Truth....

There is a Zen story about a man who studied with a Zen Master for a while and said to the Zen Master," I want know the truth". The Zen master said alright. So the student lived with him and he sent him out to cut trees. He said now ,"Go cut trees for while" so the student cut trees for about six or eight months and got frustrated finally saying to the Zen master, "I have been asking you for the truth". He said,"you haven't told me anything". The master said," that is right I haven't". So he told the student to go out and turn those chopped trees into charcoal and so he did that for about six months and the man never spoke to him. The student got frustrated again and said to the master, "I am leaving you ...I told you that I want know the truth". So the Zen master said let me walk with you a way. They walked until they came over a bridge where there was rushing water underneath. The master gave him a shove over into the water. The man goes down once screaming," I can't swim". He goes down twice saying, "I can't swim". The third time the master pulled him up onto the shore and pulled him to the side and said,"now when you want truth the same way you wanted that breath of air you've already got it".
